WorshipWorship is the focal point of our church life and can cover a multitude of things but the main time is when we meet on a Sunday morning. Our Sunday Celebrations involve many different forms of worship including songs, prayers and talks called sermons. A typical worship gathering will consist of a time of singing when we use songs describing how great God is and giving him praise for what he does for us. Sometimes the songs will be more inward looking as way of expressing how we feel and seeking God in the circumstances we face. This is normally a band and a worship leader that lead us in our time of sung worship. There will often be times of prayer which is where we talk to God and either say thank-you to him or ask him in particular situations, including those in need or who are sick. It's not just one way though and there are often times of silence when we can be still and listen to God's response to us. At some point during the gathering there will be a sermon. This is simply a talk, where we read part of the Bible and explore what it means and how to apply that to our lives so that we can live out our faith more effectively.
Our Sunday Celebrations can be described as contemporary, mixing old and new, borrowing from other traditions, all blended together in an expression of worship to God. |
