New to Church?

Welcome! Whether you've moved to the area, or are local and just want to know more about us, we hope this page is a helpful guide for what to expect from OBC. However, the best way to find out is to pay us a visit on a Sunday morning !

Key information about the church...

Where & when does the church meet?

The church meets twice every Sunday, with an earlier service starting at 9:00am, a break for refreshments from 10:15am, and a second service starting at 10.45am.
Currently we're only able to offer children and youth groups at our second service, though as the Church continues to grow we hope to be able to offer this at both.

If arriving for the second service, do be sure to arrive from 10:15, to enable you to enjoy a tea, coffee and a catch-up before the service starts. (There may even be cake...)

We meet at:
Melton Road
Oakham

You can see a map on our contact us pageThere is parking available onsite, and on Sundays – it’s free!

What should I expect when I visit the church?

First of all, we will try and make sure you receive a very warm welcome, particularly from our Welcome Team.
Our services vary from week to week, but typically contain 20-30 minutes of sung worship, some prayer and a talk or preach. Each service lasts for around 1hr 15mins. Within the time of sung worship, we want all present to feel comfortable, so you are welcome to sit, stand, join in or just observe!

What about children and young people?

We have a fantastic programme for children and young people at the Church for:

Adventure is our group for 0-4s
Discover is for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
Explore is for children in Years 3-5

Connect is for young people in Years 6-9 and takes place on Sunday mornings, during the second service.
Encounter is for young people in Years 10-13 and meets twice a month, on Sunday evenings.

Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship together for the first part of the morning. Someone will announce when the children need to go to their groups. You will need to go with your children and register them, the first time they attend.

For more information about what happens in the children's work please visit the Children's Ministry page.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in whatever you feel comfortable wearing.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
